User Content: Reviews, ratings, comments, and contributions to Movie Rooms that you submit to the Service.

Device Information: Details about your device, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.

We use your information to:

Provide personalized movie recommendations based on your preferences and interactions.
Enable you to submit reviews, participate in Movie Rooms, and engage with the CritifyHub community.
Improve the Service by analyzing usage patterns and feedback.

Ensure the security and integrity of the Service.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data in the following cases:

Service Providers: With trusted third-party providers who assist with hosting, analytics, or customer support, under strict confidentiality agreements. For our mobile apps this includes Google Firebase (crash reports and optional usage statistics), as described in Section 6.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process, such as responding to a subpoena or court order.
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the new entity.
Public Content: User Content (e.g., reviews, comments) you submit may be publicly visible to other users.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

6. Mobile Apps

Our Android and iOS apps use the same account and data as the website. In addition:

Sign-in: You can sign in with Google or Apple. We receive only your name, email address and a unique account identifier from the provider; we never see your password. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we receive a private relay address.
Crash Reports: The apps use Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect anonymous crash reports, such as the error, device model, operating system and app version. Crash reports do not include your name, email address or the movies you rate, and are used only to fix bugs.
Usage Statistics (optional): With your permission, the apps use Google Analytics for Firebase to count which features are used (for example, how many rooms are created or lists opened). We ask for your consent the first time you open the app, and you can turn it off at any time under Profile. These statistics are not linked to your account and do not include your email address or the titles of movies you watch.
Streaming Services and Region: If you choose your country and the streaming services you subscribe to, we store them with your account to show where movies are available and to filter recommendations. Availability data is provided by JustWatch via TMDB; we do not share your personal information with them.
Imports: If you import your watch history from Letterboxd, IMDb or Netflix, we read the file you choose only to add the matching movies to your account and do not keep the file. If you link a Letterboxd username, we periodically read that profile’s public activity feed to add new films.
Language: The app sends your selected language and country to our servers so that movie titles, summaries and availability are shown in your language and region.
No Advertising or Tracking: The apps contain no advertising, do not use an advertising identifier and do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Account Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Profile → Delete account. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke CritifyHub’s access to your Apple ID.

7. Your Privacy Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access: Request a copy of the data we have about you.
Correction: Request updates to inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion: Request the deletion of your account and associated data.
Opt-Out: Opt out of non-essential cookies or marketing communications.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, such as encryption and secure servers, to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service or comply with legal obligations. For example, account data is retained until you request deletion, while User Content may remain visible unless removed.

10. International Data Transfers

CritifyHub operates globally, and your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, using safeguards like standard contractual clauses.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
